Beyond the Beach: Boracay's Hidden Interior
Most visitors to Boracay never venture more than 100 meters from White Beach. This is understandable — the beach is extraordinary — but the island's interior holds a completely different world of tropical forest, rolling hills, local villages, and panoramic viewpoints that most tourists entirely miss. ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) tours are the best way to access this less-visited side of Boracay, covering ground in 30–60 minutes that would take hours on foot.
The ATV Experience
ATV tours depart from rental centers near Station 3 and in the island's interior. After a brief safety briefing and demonstration of controls, riders head off on marked trails through the island's landscape. Trails pass through coconut groves, ascend viewpoint hills with 360° panoramas, traverse unpaved paths through local neighborhoods, and visit vantage points overlooking both White Beach and Bulabog Beach simultaneously — a perspective few visitors ever see.
The physical sensation of riding through tropical terrain — the smell of vegetation, the feeling of the island's topography, the wind through the trees — offers a genuine connection to Boracay as a living ecosystem rather than just a beach resort. Local kids run out to wave at passing riders, and you'll encounter working coconut farms and fishermen's villages that exist entirely outside the tourist bubble.
Tour Options and Prices
30-minute tour: ₱700–₱900 per ATV. Covers the main viewpoint loop with stops for photos. Best for those with limited time or first-timers wanting a taste.
60-minute tour: ₱1,200–₱1,500 per ATV. Extends into more remote trails with longer views and more stops. Most popular option.
Full island circuit (2+ hours): ₱2,500–₱3,500 per ATV. Circumnavigates the island including visits to local communities, fishing villages, and all major viewpoints. A genuine adventure for enthusiasts.
All tours are guide-led; riders follow a leader in a convoy. Passengers can ride pillion for a small additional fee. No license is required as these are off-road vehicles on private/dirt road routes.
Best for Whom
ATV tours work brilliantly for couples, friend groups, adventure seekers who want a break from the beach, and anyone with an extra half-day. The tours are suitable for ages 16+ (with adult supervision for younger teens). Drivers should be confident with basic vehicle controls — no previous ATV experience is needed but being comfortable with basic motorbike-style controls is helpful.
